French navy seizes oil tanker from Russia in Mediterranean Sea

The French Navy seized an oil tanker from Russia in the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday.

French President Emmanuel Macron stated in a post on “X” platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that “the French Navy boarded an oil tanker from Russia this morning. The tanker is subject to international sanctions and is suspected of flying a false flag.”

He added, “The operation was carried out on the high seas in the Mediterranean, with the support of several of our allies, and in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea,” he claimed.

He stated that a judicial investigation has been opened and the ship has been inspected.

Macron attached a photo of the operation during the seizure of the oil tanker to his post.
