UNRWA commissioner: Israel defies UN by attacking, burning agency headquarters

The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said on Sunday that after Israeli authorities stormed and destroyed the agency’s headquarters in occupied East al-Quds, it was now set on fire.

In a post on “X” platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Lazzarini added: “There are no limits to the defiance of the United Nations and international law in the occupied Palestinian territories.”

He added: “Allowing this unprecedented destruction is the latest attack on the United Nations as part of the ongoing attempt to undermine the status of Palestinian refugees in the occupied Palestinian territories and erase their history.”

He stressed the necessity of resolving the Palestinian refugee issue through a genuine political solution, not through criminal acts.
