Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Tuesday that the United States must cease depriving the Cuban people of their rights to life and development.
According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, Jiakun added that China is deeply concerned about and strongly opposes the actions of the US side, urging it to stop undermining regional peace and stability, cease violating international law, and immediately lift the blockade and sanctions imposed on Cuba.
He added, “China will continue to do its utmost to provide assistance and support to Cuba. We are confident that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Cuban government, the Cuban people will certainly be able to overcome the current difficulties.”
The spokesperson made these remarks in response to a media inquiry regarding the Cuban government’s condemnation of the US side, which is reportedly considering tightening its illegal blockade against Cuba.
