April 2nd, Yemeni army and popular committee secured al-Wazi’iyah District in Taiz province. They also secured al-shuqira area the center of the district causing tens of mercenaries between dead and injured.
Previously, the Yemeni army and the popular committee announced the total control of al-Wazi’iyah district within days of heavy fighting resulted mercenaries’ losses.
Military source said “ military unites and popular committee inter the center of al-Wazi’iyah district and had the total control to the governmental institution.” He added “the military heroes and the popular committee continued their progress to secure Sheikh village and numbers of hills in al-Wazi’iyah.”
The source pointed out that many mercenaries died and injured in the military progress operations in north Taiz in al-Wazi’iyah district.
Ali Gahiz, a writer and political analyst, said “ if al-Wazi’iyah is totally secured , it is impossible for mercenaries to make any progress in Taiz.”
“Al-Wazi’iyah is a strategic area over the Dhubab District from the west, and its mountains over the coast and Lahij province from the south, thus mercenaries are in impasse,” he added.
