Under the auspices of H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Habtoor, the Yemeni non-governmental organization coalition for child rights care organized the fifth annual conference for NGOs and relevant child rights entities.
The conference will discuss over three days working papers related to the children issues under the slogan Stop Killing And Blockade Of Yemeni Children.
In the opening, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Fa’aqa al-Saeed, confirmed the Government interest to protect the children rights and provide their basic needs.
“the war and blockade prevent children from their basic rights. Thousands of children are killed, injured and displaced as well as many schools and hospitals destroyed that make their suffering increased,” she added.
al-Saeed called the government, international community and civil society to unite their efforts to provide the children a stable and secure life.
In her part, General Secretary of the Higher Council for Motherhood and Childhood Lamia al-Eriany, emphasized the need to make a strategy for the children rights that runs from the partnership between official bodies, civil society organizations and international organizations to shape safe and bright future for children in Yemen.
Adiba Zilil, director of the children rights protection program in Save the Children organization, reviewed the organization’s efforts and activities for children care in Yemen, ” partnership is important between the bodies working in the field of child rights in Yemen to improve children’s rights environment.”
For his part, Abdo Salah, the General Coordinator of Yemeni non-governmental organization coalition for child rights care , said that the conference aims to come out with a draft of national strategy for the protection of the child and submit it to the government to release and implement it.
