The Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf met the head of the European Union delegation Antonia Calvo Puerta , who is visiting Yemen .
During the meeting, the foreign minister welcomed the President of the EU Delegation to Yemen, wishing her success in her mission, stressing that she will receive all aspects of support and facilities from the Foreign Ministry.
The EU has recently become more connected to the situation in Yemen, especial in economic, humanitarian aspects and the Yemeni people’s suffering caused by the Saudi aggression war, Hisham Sharaf said
“The worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen and the spread of cholera epidemic were a man-made disaster resulted from the Saudi aggression war and its all-out blockade against the people of Yemen, as well as the continued intransigence of the aggression’s States and their rejection for all international calls, including the appeal of the European Union, which is sponsoring the lifting of the blockade of Sana’a International airport to commercial and civilian air traffic.,” he added
The Minister confirmed that the aggression on Yemen not only had bad impact on Yemenis people, but also caused shame on the international community and its humanitarian values, which stood silent in the face of the systematic killing and destruction practiced by the Saudi-led coalition aggression due to the influence of Saudi Arabia money.
He affirmed that the Yemeni leadership and people praised the EU positive stances towards Yemen, adding that the political solution should be through a negotiating table.
Sharaf conveyed the Supreme Political Council and the National Salvation Government’s positions to extend a hand of peace to rivals.
The minister stressed on the importance of the EU’s role to exert more offers to stop the Saudi aggression war and lift all-out siege imposed on the Yemeni people and to achieve stability in Yemen and the region.
In her part, the Ambassador María Antonia Calvo said that the position of the European Union is clear and explicit that there is no military solution in Yemen, and that the solution is a peaceful political one.
She also stressed that the need for a political solution is urgent to address the disastrous humanitarian situation in Yemen.
