The United Nations had warned earlier in August of a possible third wave of cholera in Yemen, which had vaccinated nearly 400,000 people in the country, But there are still fears of a new outbreak, the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, said on Wednesday.
“Our partners vaccinated this month more than 385,000 people against cholera in high-risk areas of Hodeidah and Ibb provinces,” Diugarric added.
According to Diugarric words, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the number of cholera cases in Yemen is increasing and this raises concerns about a possible third wave of the epidemic.”
On August 2, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that Yemen could experience a “major new wave” of cholera cases and called for a three-day truce in order to make way for vaccination campaigns
