President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat on Sunday warned the Saudi-led coalition for the second time “not to seize imported fuel shipments in the Red Sea”, considering it as “an arbitrary measure aimed to disregard suffering of the Yemeni people.”
In a televised speech to mark the 56th anniversary of the October 14 Revolution, President al-Mashat said: “the continued seizure of oil ships (by the coalition) threatens the safety of maritime navigation and represents a clear danger that may lead to a series of developments that could be incompatible with the recent efforts to reach a peace deal.”
The coalition economic blockade on Yemen has caused severe fuel shortage and the stop of many hospitals.
The President called on the international community to condemn the oppression against the Yemeni people, and to respect their aspirations to live in dignity.
The President reaffirmed Yemen’s commitment to support the UN envoy’s efforts towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
President Mahdi al-Mashat called on the Saudi-led aggression coalition countries to review their positions of their unjust war against Yemen.
“We appreciate positive statements from the neighboring states, but we still waiting for actual implementation,” he added.
