Senior Assistant to Iran’s Foreign Minister in Special Political Affairs Ali Asqar Khaji and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vernishin expressed deep concern about the dire humanitarian conditions of the Yemeni people.

The two high-ranking officials in a phone conversation on Wednesday discussed the difficult situation of people in Yemen and Syria, stressing Iran and Russia’s preparedness to help the Yemeni people.

Khaji, for his part, underscored the need for the establishment of comprehensive ceasefire, removal of siege and resumption of the political process in Yemen.

He also condemned the unilateral and cruel sanctions imposed on the Syrian people, calling for the removal of embargos.

The two senior officials also underlined the necessity to settle the political crisis in Yemen through national talks.
