13 citizens died due to floods in Hodeidah

The acting governor of Hodeidah, Mohammed Ayash Quhim, and the first deputy of the province, Ahmed al-Hasani, on Saturday inspected the damages caused by torrential rains   in the directorates of al-Zuhrah  al-Qanawis and Alluheyah, which resulted in the death of 13 people.

They listened to a briefing  on the extent of the damage caused by torrential rains that washed away 50 houses, damaged hundreds of houses, dozens of hectares of farmland and killed hundreds of cows and livestock.

They ordered  to provide  the provision of equipment to create protection barriers for homes and agricultural land from the torrents of valleys flowing into the directorates.

Both officials confirmed the province’s keenness to provide assistance and rehabilitate these agricultural lands.

Moreover, they directed to disbursing emergency financial assistance,  tents, food and relief to those affected and searching for the missing.

They also addressed the branch of the Supreme Council for The Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the province by following up on the distribution of tents and relief materials to all those affected in the three directorates.

Quhim called on businessmen and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to help those affected by the floods and alleviate their suffering.

They  also ordered the  local authorities in the directorates to set up operating rooms at the affected sites to follow up on the situation and take appropriate action.
