The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the keenness of the National Salvation Government and the political leadership to achieve peace in Yemen, noting that the peace does not tolerate any form of jumping over the suffering and rights of the Yemeni People.
In a statement, the Ministry expressed its great respect and appreciation for the people who call for peace and stopping the war, expressing its reservation about all policies that deal with peace in Yemen from principles that are contrary to logic and reality. The statement clarified that peace requirements are clear and that the real obstacle lies in trying to ignore the suffering of the Yemeni People and their rights, and to deal with the US-Saudi crime of siege, seizing ships and closing the airport as if they were legitimate means of pressure.
The statement rejected the wrong descriptions of war by trying to characterize it as if it were a civil war. Seeking solutions on these basis is a wrong and worrisome method and it neglects the credibility required to build the necessary confidence to move the wheel of peace forward.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed the demand for the immediate release of the fuel tankers and the opening of Sana’a airport as basic rights of the people and not to be linked to any other issues.
The statement emphasized that using siege and starvation as a weapon of war falls within the concept of war crimes, crimes against humanity and represents the highest levels of violation of the human conscience, the ethics of war, international and humanitarian laws and agreements, including Stockholm Agreement. It noted that it is not possible to trust any talk about peace in light of the continuing of these crimes.
The statement stressed the need to differentiate between the Yemeni-Yemeni political problem, and this aggressive war against Yemen. The Foreign Ministry reiterated the openness of the national stance against aggression to all sincere efforts, fair and realistic initiatives, and full readiness to stop all defensive actions as soon as the aggression stops and the siege is lifted.
