The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, met on Monday with representatives of Swedish donors headed by Adam Bergman.
At the meeting, Tawoos welcomed the Swedish delegation visiting Yemen, affirming that the visit came to brief about the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe and the real need for development and service projects.
The Secretary-General stressed the importance of coordination with the Council regarding projects that correspond to the necessary and priority needs at the current stage, pointing out that the Supreme Council will provide all facilities to humanitarian partners.
He called on the Swedish donors to increase funding for Yemen and work to reduce the operating expenses of projects funded by the European Union and the Swedish government.
For its part, the Swedish delegation valued the efforts made by the Humanitarian Affairs Council to coordinate and facilitate the work of humanitarian organizations, stressing interest in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
