Yemen, UNHCR discuss IDPs issues

Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (SCMCHA) Ibrahim al-Hamli on Monday discussed with the new resident representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) the internally displaced persons issues and how to manage displacement sites.

The meeting touched on the mechanisms of work between the SCMCHA and the UNHCR to ensure continuity of work and achieve the desired results to alleviate the suffering of the displaced and affected people.

Al-Hamali stressed the importance of raising the level of coordination with the commission, pointing to the SCMCHA’s keenness to provide the necessary facilities to conduct the work of the Commission and perform the tasks entrusted to it.

He pointed out the need to visit displacement sites to see the suffering of the displaced and to discuss developments that occur in the field on a timely basis to develop solutions to serve the course of humanitarian action.

For her part, the UN official stressed the commitment of the Commission to coordinate with the Council and to discuss challenges on a timely basis to move forward in achieving common humanitarian goals.
