Director General of Sana’a International Airport recently revealed the movement in the Airport during the past 8 years of the Saudi-led coalition’s war on Yemen.
Khaled Al-Shayef, director general of the airport, said in a news statement on Monday that the number of commercial flights to and from Sana’a Airport over the past 8 years has not exceeded 1,276 flights, compared to 20,000 flights during 2014 only.
He indicated that the number is not equal to the number of flights over two months during the normal situation in 2014.
Al-Shayef pointed out that the number of passengers since then has not exceeded 162,000 passengers, compared to 1.9 million passengers in the year 2014.
He explained that the amount of air freight during wartime has not reached 721 tons, compared to 16,177 tons during the year of 2014.
The statement stressed that Sana’a Airport received in 2014 about 50 flights for 14 carrier companies on a daily basis, and 5 thousand passengers round-trip daily.
