The Specialized Criminal Division in the Capital Sana’a upheld on Sunday sentences of imprisonment, confiscation, and prohibition from practicing public office against those convicted of possessing and trafficking drugs.
This came during the two sessions of the Division, chaired by Judge Abdullah Al-Najjar, set to declare the verdict regarding the appeal submitted by those convicted in these cases.
In the first case, the Specialized Criminal Court of First Instance ruled that Yassin Amin Ahmed Al-Ezzi was convicted of the crime of possessing, transporting, and selling narcotic substances with intent to traffic, punishing him with 25 years imprisonment and acquitting him of the charge of drug use.
In the same case, Manaa Manea Abdullah Al-Shami, Abdulfattah Ali Saeed Huliman, and Ali Hussein Ali Jashman were also convicted of the crime of possessing and transporting narcotic substances without the intent of trafficking or use, and each of them was punished with five years’ imprisonment in addition to confiscating the seized car for the benefit of the public treasury.
In the second case, Yahya Yahya Ali Hullis was convicted of the crime of possessing, transporting, and delivering narcotic substances with intent to traffic, which was attributed to him in the indictment, and he was punished with 25 years imprisonment, in addition to depriving him of continuing to practice his job in the state and from assuming public jobs and services, as well as confiscating the car and phone found in his possession.
