UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg had a virtual meeting with Senior Advisor to Iran’s Foreign Minister, Ali Asghar Khaji, Office of the Special Envoy said in a post on telegram.
According to the office, They discussed the progress of UN-led mediation and ways to strengthen concerted regional and international support to resume an inclusive political process under UN auspices.
Both parties emphasized the importance of resolving the Yemeni crisis through political negotiations, expressing satisfaction with the Ansarullah movement’s resumption of political dialogue with Saudi officials.
They expressed hope that such talks would address critical issues and lead to a permanent ceasefire in Yemen.
Ali Askhar Khaji underscored the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen and called for increased efforts by the international community and the United Nations to provide essential aid and medical assistance to the Yemeni people.
