Tribal sources in Marib revealed the reasons of the arrest of an Omani tourist in the city of Marib, the last stronghold of the coalition in northern Yemen.
The sources stated that the arrest of the Omani traveler, Harith Al-Shuraiqi, was carried out under the directives of Sagheer bin Aziz, commander of the Emirati wing in Marib, noting that the goal was to disturb the the Omani mediation between Saudi Arabia and Sana’a.
Militants of the factions affiliated with the coalition arrested al-Shuraiqi as he passed through one of the points at the entrances to the city after a tour of north-south and north Yemen.
The arrest of the Omani flight coincided with reports of progress in the negotiations mediated by his country between Riyadh and Sanaa.
Discussions are currently taking place around the oil and gas file, of which Marib is the most prominent producer, and militias and regional parties seize its revenues.
