The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Yemen condemned the US-UK aggression that targeted several Yemeni provinces, considering it a violation of international law and the purposes of the United Nations Charter.
“The continuation of the US-UK aggression represents a striking picture for the failure of the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in maintaining international peace, security and protecting civilians under the current structure,” the ministry said in a statement obtained by Yemen News Agency (SABA).
“The US-UK aggression on Yemen came to hide Zionist war crimes and genocide against Palestinians in Gaza Strip and a failed attempt to threaten Yemen due to its stances and its rejection to US-Zionist aggression. Yemen fulfills its humanitarian and moral responsibilities in providing the necessary support according to its capabilities and impose a naval blockade on the Zionist enemy and prevent and target Israel-linked ships or ships heading to the occupied Palestinian ports,” the statement read.
The statement pointed out that the Yemeni people “will keep going to stage mass rallies in support and solidarity with Gaza”, calling on the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to keep targeting Israel-owned ships or ships heading to the occupied Palestinian ports until the aggression stops and the siege on the Gaza Strip is lifted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that the US-UK aggression will not deter Yemen from its moral, religious and humanitarian stance in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The statement held the US and UK responsible for the safety of maritime navigation and international trade in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and the Arabian Sea.
It considered their military presence as illegal and a form of occupation that must be combated by all countries bordering the Red Sea and Arabian Sea.
