Leaders affiliated with the Islah party (the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood), announced on Monday the dismissal of Moeen Abdul-Malik Saeed from his post as Prime Minister of the puppet government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.
Ahmed Nasser Al-Hazmi, a parliamentary member of Islah party said in a post on his X account that Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs until now, has been appointed as the new Prime Minister for the pro-coalition government in Aden.
The removal of Moeen Abdul-Malik Saeed from his position coincides with an increase of popular discontent in the coalition-led regions.
Many observers in Yemen believe that the economic collapse in coalition-held areas cannot be resolved solely by changing individuals, emphasising the need to change the failed policies practiced by the pro-coalition authorities.
Some of the observers remain skeptical about the appointment of Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak as Prime Minister, citing his tainted record with corruption issues, while others argue that the change in leadership may not necessarily lead to optimism without addressing the underlying policy challenges.
