Sana’a government held the Islah Party responsible for thwarting the implementation of the Geneva Agreement for the exchange of prisoners and visits to the prisons of both parties.
The head of the Prisoners’ Committee in Sana’a government, Abdul Qadir Al-Murtada, said in a post on (X): “In March of last year, at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and under the auspices of the United Nations, an agreement was signed between us and the aggression coalition party.”
Adding: The agreement stipulated two basic points: First. Forming a team from both parties to visit prisons in Sana’a and Ma’rib, and this visit should include all prisoners and detainees from both parties.”
He continued: “Secondly, implementing the agreed-upon exchange deal, which includes 1,400 prisoners from both parties.”
He added , “Unfortunately, the agreement was not implemented because the Islah Party in Ma’rib refused to implement it and imposed obstacles and conditions that led to delaying its implementation.”
He concluded by saying: “And yet we hear them shouting these days that we did not allow Mohammad Qahtan to be visited, while they prevent visits to all prisons and all prisoners and detainees from both sides, even in the presence of a signed agreement stipulating that.”
