A number of members of the UAE-backed “Shabwah Defense Forces” were injured on Monday in an ambush in Shabwah province, eastern Yemen.

Informed sources reported that unidentified gunmen believed to belong to Al-Qaeda members targeted a military patrol of the Shabwah Defense Forces with an explosive device while it was passing on a dirt road in Al-Musaina area of Alssaid Alala district, south of the city of Ataq, the center of the province.

It was reported that the explosion resulted in the injury of two soldiers from the “First Shabwah Defense Brigade” who were on board the military vehicle.

Terrorist elements have been active in the Alssaid Alala district since the Shabwah Defense Forces, reinforced with ‘Al-Amaliqa’ Brigades, were able to expel the Islah Party military leaders from Ataq in mid-August 2022.
