A gunman opened fire at the Israeli embassy in Amman, the capital of Jorden, prompting a security operation that resulted in the gunman’s killing at the hands of the Jordanian police.

The Jordanian Public Security announced  on Sunday, the killing of a person who opened fire on security personnel in the Rabieh area of ​​the capital, Amman, highlighting that 3 police officers were injured in the clashes.

The Jordanian Public Security announced that “a person opened fire on a patrol operating in the area, where a security force was deployed to the site and located the shooter who tried to escape.”

The Public Security statement said that “the shooter was pursued and surrounded, so he opened fire on the security force, which, in turn, applied the rules of engagement,” resulting in the shooter’s killing.

Earlier, Israeli media reported on a security incident near the Israeli embassy in the Jordanian capital, Amman, where a gunman opened fire for several minutes toward the embassy premises.

The area around the Israeli embassy in the Rabieh district of Amman saw a heavy security presence after midnight on Sunday, following the sound of gunfire.
