Spain has for the second time prevented a Danish ship carrying a shipment of weapons bound for the Zionist entity from docking.
The Danish company “Maersk”, one of the largest shipping companies in the world, announced that it had prevented a container ship belonging to it from entering the Spanish port of Algeciras.
The company claimed that the ship was carrying goods that would be transported through the port and did not contain weapons or military ammunition.
On Tuesday, the deputy of the Spanish leftist coalition, Somar Enrique Santiago, filed a complaint to prevent two ships from docking in the port of Algeciras, considering that allowing them to enter the port is contrary to the “government agreement.”
Santiago, who is also the Secretary-General of the Spanish Communist Party, wrote on the “X” platform that “the port of Algeciras cannot be a transit area for weapons for Israel.”
The Spanish government had explained two days ago to the daily newspaper “El Pais” that this ship, in addition to another ship that will dock later in the month, also belonging to “Maersk”, “will not stop in Spain,” without giving further details.
Since the spring, Spain, which along with Ireland and Norway recognized the state of Palestine in May, has refused to allow ships carrying arms shipments to Israel to dock in its ports. Spain, which has halted arms sales to Israel, is one of the most vocal European voices critical of the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip.
