The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Jamal Ahmed Amer, met today with the new head of the UN Women mission in Yemen, Dina Zorba, who presented her credentials.
In the meeting, Minister Amer welcomed the new head of the UN Women mission, stressing that she will receive all kinds of support and facilities during her tenure in Yemen.
He urged the UN Women mission to ensure that the priorities of the projects it will implement are consistent with the nature of the exceptional situation that Yemen has gone through during the past ten years of aggression and siege, which is still escalating, the latest of which was the tripartite Israeli, American, and British aggression, which cast its shadow on the needs.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stressed the importance of the UN Women mission focusing on projects related to women’s economic empowerment, especially since Yemeni women have suffered and continue to suffer as a result of wars and the ongoing economic siege.
In turn, the head of the UN Women mission, Zorba, expressed her happiness to work in Yemen, stressing that she will do her utmost to serve Yemeni women in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in identifying priority projects during the coming period.
