The General Authority for Antiquities and Museums announced the completion of the first phase of the project to photograph 1,471 ancient Zabur sticks in the National Museum in Sana’a.
The head of the authority, Ibad Al-Hayal, indicated that the project aims to document this legacy, part of which still needs restoration, stressing that these wooden sticks are among the most prominent artifacts that reflect the history of ancient Yemeni civilization.
He explained that these sticks contain inscriptions written in the Zabur script; dealing with many aspects of the daily life of ancient Yemenis, which makes them historical documents of high value, and this documentation is an important step to preserve this cultural legacy and pass it on to future generations.
Al-Hayal pointed out that this project was implemented with great efforts from the management of the photography unit, with the aim of preserving the Yemeni cultural heritage.
