The Arab Parliament (affiliated with the Arab League) is scheduled to hold an emergency session on Palestine, under the slogan: “Reconstructing Gaza is a duty, and displacing its people is a crime,” today, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo.
The Palestine Committee of the Arab Parliament, headed by the Chairman of the Palestine Committee, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, held a meeting the day before yesterday, to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, in preparation for today’s session.
The meeting of the Arab Parliament in Cairo last Sunday adopted a document of (17) items to support the rights of the Palestinian people, at the top of which was full support for Jordan’s positions in rejecting proposals to displace the Palestinian people from their land.
The document stated: “We support the historical Hashemite guardianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and we reject all forms of settlement, and invalidate any claim by the occupation government to sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem.”
The document also included support for Egypt’s efforts to reject displacement, and support for its efforts with Qatar to consolidate the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, and affirmed full support for the fixed, legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, most notably the right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state.
