A meeting was held on Sunday chaired by the Minister of Electricity, Energy, and Water, Dr. Ali Saif, and attended by the Deputy Minister of Electricity and Water, Adel Bader, and the Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Sana’a.
The meeting, which also included the National Coordinator of the Water Block, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Haroush, and UNICEF’s Head of Water and Environmental Sanitation, Peter Harvey, discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Ministry and UNICEF to support efforts to advance the water sector in Yemen.
The meeting reviewed UNICEF’s interventions in the water sector, the prioritization of projects in the 2025 plan, and the projects that will be implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Electricity and Water and its affiliated units. Additionally, they assessed the achievements made during 2024.
During the meeting, the Minister of Electricity and Water emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination with UNICEF, a key partner in the water and sanitation sectors, to support the ministry’s efforts in providing water and sanitation services to citizens, especially in light of the current conditions.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Electricity and Water expressed hope that UNICEF’s support for water and sanitation projects would continue and be utilized to implement sustainable initiatives in the water sector.
For his part, UNICEF Deputy Resident Representative affirmed readiness to cooperate with the Ministry of Electricity and Water, its agencies, and institutions, and to support its efforts in continuing to provide water and sanitation services to citizens.
