United Nations has confirmed that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is “likely the worst” since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Strip, as a result of the complete cessation of the flow of humanitarian aid through the crossings for more than a month and a half.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a statement on Monday that “the humanitarian situation is now likely the worst in the 18 months since the outbreak of the war,” noting that it has been a month and a half since “any supplies were allowed to enter Gaza through the crossings, the longest period of cessation to date.”
The UN office considered this cessation to represent an unprecedented phase of humanitarian collapse.
It stated that “due to the closure of the crossings, along with the restrictions imposed within Gaza, the shortage of supplies has forced the authorities to ration and reduce deliveries.”
Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy forces have launched an aggression against the Gaza Strip, resulting in the martyrdom of 50,983 citizens, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 116,274 others, according to a preliminary toll.
A number of victims remain under the rubble and on the streets, unable to be reached by ambulances and rescue teams.
