A Western report confirmed on Sunday that the military operations carried out by the Yemeni Armed Forces in the Red Sea—targeting ships linked to the Israeli enemy—represent a strategic shift in the course of the regional confrontation. These operations simultaneously expose the fragility of the Western security framework in protecting its interests within international maritime corridors.
The report, published by the British newspaper Daily Mail, stated that the weapons used—anti-ship missiles, aerial and naval drones loaded with explosives—have highlighted shortcomings in the defensive measures adopted by both the United States and the Zionist entity. Despite airstrikes and aggressive military campaigns, these measures have failed to limit or curtail the capabilities of the Yemeni forces or halt their operations in support of the Palestinian people.
It pointed out that Washington has failed to curb Yemen’s growing military capabilities, reflecting both intelligence and operational failures. Despite repeated claims by US President Donald Trump about eliminating Yemeni military power, developments on the ground indicate that Sana’a has succeeded in enhancing its performance and expanding the scope of its strategic operations.
The report revealed that US forces have dropped over 2,000 munitions on nearly 1,000 targets inside Yemen. Yet, this has not stopped Yemen’s support operations for Gaza. It also highlighted the limited defensive infrastructure available to commercial ships, which often lack advanced air defense systems and rely on lightly armed security teams unable to counter attack drones or precision-guided missiles.
Daily Mail further explained that the Yemeni forces—having accumulated significant combat experience, particularly with drones and helicopters—are now capable of bypassing private security teams aboard commercial vessels, which usually consist of no more than three members.
In its analysis of the regional balance of power within the Resistance Axis, the American paper noted that Yemen—once viewed as the weakest link compared to Hezbollah or Hamas—has now advanced to a more prominent position due to its ability to conduct precise and impactful strikes. This has disrupted US and Israeli calculations and solidified the Red Sea’s status as a decisive and effective front in the battle to break Western hegemony.
The report concluded that the regional landscape is undergoing a major transformation marked by the collapse of American deterrence and the expansion of conflict into vital Western interests. This shift is redrawing the maps of power and control in the region and forcing an unprecedented reevaluation of the US concept of dominance over international maritime corridors.
Since the escalation of Israeli aggression on Gaza in October 2023, Yemen has emerged as a central player in regional resistance, shifting the balance of power in the Red Sea. The Yemeni Armed Forces have launched strategic naval operations targeting ships linked to Israeli interests, establishing a de facto maritime blockade around the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea. These actions are intended to pressure the Zionist regime to halt its military campaign and lift the siege on Gaza.
