The House of Representatives continued in its session held today, headed by the Speaker of the House, Brother Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i, to discuss the articles of the draft law on medicine and pharmacy in light of the report of the Special Committee on the results of its study of the draft law, which consists of 75 articles.
The articles of the draft law aimed to regulate the registration, import, export, manufacture, distribution and circulation of medicine, and to ensure the safety, quality, effectiveness and security of medicine, and any other materials or products stipulated in this law.
The draft law also aimed to rationally use medicine and regulate the prescription, dispensing and sale of medicine or any other materials or products stipulated in this law, and to work to protect the individual and society from the harms and dangers resulting from the misuse or circulation of medicine or resulting from counterfeit and adulterated medicines or narcotic substances and psychotropic substances, and to control medicine prices and prevent monopoly.
During the session, in the presence of the relevant government side represented by the Minister of Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Abdul Karim Shaiban, and the Chairman of the Drug Authority, Dr. Ali Abbas, the brothers, members of the Council, stressed in the context of their discussions of the articles of the draft law, the importance of combating smuggling and reducing imbalances.
The Council will continue its discussion of the articles of the draft law tomorrow in the presence of the relevant government side.
