WFP Warns Of Growing Threat In Gaza Due To Severe Shortage Of Food Supplies

United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has warned of the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, confirming that nearly two million people, the majority of whom are displaced Palestinians, are currently living without any source of income and are entirely dependent on humanitarian aid to secure their basic food needs.

In a series of statements issued over the past few hours, the program  warned of what it described as a “growing risk” threatening hundreds of thousands of residents of the Strip, given the severe dwindling food stocks, which portends an imminent humanitarian disaster.

The program noted that this dangerous situation coincides with the continued closure of border crossings, which completely obstructs the arrival of essential food supplies into the besieged Strip.

It stressed that Gaza is in dire need of an immediate, continuous, and uninterrupted flow of food to avoid a complete collapse in food security.

It also warned of dire consequences if the situation continues, noting that Palestinian civilians in Gaza are already facing catastrophic humanitarian conditions and severe shortages of all necessities of life.
