Bin Madi Summoned To Riyadh Amid UAE-Backed STC Mobilization In Mukalla

Saudi Arabia has summoned Mabkhout bin Madi, the governor of Hadhramaut, loyal to the Saudi-led aggression coalition , following the mobilization of armed forces and mass gatherings by the Emirati-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)  militias in the city of Mukalla, the provincial capital.

Bin Madi traveled over 300 km from Mukalla and departed towards the Saudi capital, Riyadh, via Seiyun Airport, with the UAE continuing to keep Al-Rayyan Airport in Mukalla closed to civilian flights since 2016.

Diplomatic sources indicated that Bin Madi’s summons came after he agreed to allow nearly 2,500 fighters, brought in by the UAE from the STC militias in Aden, Dhalea, and Lahj last week, to enter Mukalla.

This came amid calls from the “Tribal Alliance” and the “Hadhramaut Comprehensive Conference,” groups loyal to Saudi Arabia, for the removal of armed militants from the coastal districts, while the “pro-aggression government and Riyadh Council” under occupation remain silent.

The sources also pointed out the provocative actions of the UAE towards the people of Hadhramaut, including funding a large demonstration today (Thursday) in Mukalla for the STC from Aden and other southern provinces.

This was part of the priorities for Saudi Arabia in summoning Bin Madi, following accusations from leaders of the alliance and the conference of conspiring with the UAE to organize the event, which is likely to spark tensions in Hadhramaut.
