The capital Sana’a on Monday witnessed mass celebrations in the three main squares to commemorate the anniversary of Day of Wilayah (marking the mandate of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib).
The participants in the celebrations emphasized that they would follow Imam Ali’s approach and woukd learn lessons from his life, specifically his courage and heroism in the face of tyrants and oppressors.
On this occasion, the Supreme Political Council’s member Mohammed Ali al-Houthi said that the commemoration of this anniversary confirms the Yemeni historical link with Imam Ali, just like their link with the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) and his family.
Al-Houthi praised the steadfastness of the Yemeni people in confronting the aggression forces with all pride and defiance for more than four years.
Eid al-Ghadeer marks the occasion on which the Prophet Muhammad publicly proclaimed Ali as his successor as leader of the Islamic Ummah. The day is celebrated by Muslims around the world.
