Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the decision of the United Nations General Assembly, confirming the eligibility of the State of Palestine for full membership in the United Nations and granting it various privileges and rights.

In its statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarded the decision as an encouraging step towards international support for the Palestinian right to obtain statehood and liberate themselves from the grip of the brutal Zionist occupation.

The statement expressed appreciation for the recent recognition of the State of Palestine by several countries, calling on those countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to do so.

It emphasized the importance of the Security Council fulfilling its responsibility by recommending to the General Assembly of the United Nations to grant full membership to the State of Palestine, as this would restore the integrity of the United Nations Charter, and international law, and preserve the cohesion of the United Nations organization.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the international community to play its role in ending the aggression and siege imposed on Gaza, reaffirming the stance of the Yemeni government and people in supporting the Palestinian people in their just struggle to establish their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.

On Friday, the United Nations General Assembly has overwhelmingly passed a resolution, urging the world body’s Security Council to reconsider Palestine’s request to become a full UN member.
