At least three journalists were killed and several others injured on Friday morning in an Israeli airstrike targeting their residence in the city of Hasbaya, southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.

The Israeli strike targeted guesthouses housing at least 18 journalists from six media outlets, including Sky News, al-Jazeera and Lebanese broadcasters, in Hasbaya in southern Lebanon in the early hours of Friday.

The three killed in the strike included camera operator Ghassan Najjar and engineer Mohamed Reda of al-Mayadeen television network, and camera operator Wissam Qassem, who worked for al-Manar, the Lebanese media outlets said in separate statements.

Several other journalists were also injured in the attack, the first on Hasbaya Town, which is inhabited by both Muslims and Christians.

The Lebanese Press Editors Syndicate condemned the attack, describing it as a “horrific massacre” perpetrated by Israel against the media.

In a statement, the syndicate called for widespread condemnation of the assault on journalists and urged the international community to raise their voices against Israel’s continued aggression towards the media, which violates established laws and conventions protecting journalists
