Hadhramaut Governor, Maj. Gen. Luqman Baras, affirmed that the ongoing events in Yemen’s southern and eastern governorates reflect a state of chaos and the intensity of conflict among the armed militias backed by Saudi Arabia and the UAE
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), Baras considered the current infighting among the armed militias and the state of security chaos in the occupied southern and eastern governorates are the expected outcome of Saudi and Emirati conspiracies, which are being executed by local proxies consisting of mercenaries and agents
Baras stressed that the infightings are part of the “Saudi-Emirati manipulation and their flagrant interference in Yemeni sovereignty.”
He claimed these actions fall within the two countries’ plans to impose a sphere of influence that serves the interests of regional and international powers and agendas.
The Governor explained that the movements of the armed militias are part of the Saudi-Emirati struggle for influence over Yemen’s southern and eastern provinces, particularly over Hadhramaut, which he described as a crucial economic and commercial hub. Its vital status is due to its oil wealth and strategic location on the Arabian Sea, making it a direct goal for covetous regional and international forces.
He also affirmed that the armed actions and destructive practices taking place in the occupied governorates are aimed at “shuffling the cards” under American, British, and Zionist sponsorship and Saudi and Emirati funding, as part of efforts to gain control over Yemen, plunder its oil resources, and control its strategic ports and maritime corridors.
Governor Baras called on the residents of the occupied governorates to maintain social cohesion, and to protect their natural resources and their maritime and land sites, urging the people of Hadhramaut to strengthen cohesion and unify the national ranks to defeat the Saudi-Emirati occupier and its filthy tools (proxies).
