Iran National Security: Truce expiration should not lead to its extension

The spokesman for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Ebrahim Rezaei, asserted on Tuesday that the expiration of the current ceasefire should not lead to its extension.

In a post on the “X” platform, Rezaei called for any political process to be accompanied by a clear recognition of Iran’s rights, including its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, warning that failure to recognize these rights would lead to a return to war.

He emphasized the need to avoid exploiting the ceasefire period to reignite tensions or rearm military capabilities, stating that failure to recognize Iran’s rights necessitates the termination of the ceasefire.
