A protest erupted yesterday outside the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, calling for the protection of the Palestinian people.

The demonstration was organised by French and European civil society organisations, most notably the French-Palestinian Solidarity Association.

Protesters carried Palestinian and Lebanese flags, as well as banners in French, English and German that read: “We do not allow you to support genocide”, “Stop genocide” and “No weapons for genocide.”

A large poster displaying images of civilians killed in the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza, which have continued for over a year, was also on display.

Israel has killed more than 44,000 Palestinians, injured over 100,000 others since it launched its genocidal bombing campaign on Gaza in October 2023. The US, UK, Germany and a number of European countries continue to provide Israel with the military equipment and bombs it has used to target Palestinian civilians.
