Zionist security minister Itamar Ben Gvir appeared in a new video inside Damon Prison, storming the section where Palestinian female prisoners are held.
This time, Ben Gvir’s appearance came as part of a report aired by Zionist Channel 14 from inside Damon jail. The video shows him speaking with some Palestinian female prisoners and commenting on their detention conditions, boasting about the harsh measures that have tightened their incarceration conditions.
When one female prisoner complained about their exposure to harsh treatment and poor conditions, Ben Gvir showed no sympathy; instead, he defended the tougher measures and insisted that security prisoners should not enjoy comfortable conditions.
Such scenes have reignited debate over Ben Gvir’s policy towards Palestinian prisoners, particularly as his prison visits have increasingly turned into media events showing raids or displays of repressive measures.
Previous footage had already captured Ben Gvir entering other detention facilities, part of what Palestinians describe as a systematic campaign targeting prisoners.
Ben Gvir has also led the push for punitive legislation against Palestinian prisoners, including a death penalty bill passed by the Knesset last March.
Human rights groups have long warned that the public dissemination of such footage normalizes Israeli punitive practices and deepens systematic violations against Palestinian detainees.
The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) condemned Ben Gvir’s public video releases, arguing that his persistence in broadcasting his abuse of detainees exposes his deliberate effort to solidify harsh prison policies.
“Ben Gvir’s appearance inside the women’s section, filming and publishing footage of female detainees, constitutes an assault on their human dignity,” PPS said on Sunday.
