Iraq, the host of the Arab League summit, pledged on Saturday to earmark $40 million for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, both devastated by months of Israeli attacks.
Referring to an initiative aimed at creating an “Arab Fund to support reconstruction after crises, conflicts, and wars,” Iraqi prime minister Mohamed as-Sudani announced his country’s contribution of $20 million “to rebuild Gaza” and a similar amount “to rebuild Lebanon.”
As-Sudani highlighted his country’s support for ending conflicts in the region, as well as for the Palestinian people’s full right to a free and dignified life on their land.
