Sana’a announces major prisoner exchange agreement in Amman

Head of Yemen’s National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, Abdulqader Al-Murtadha, announced on Thursday the completion of a new round of negotiations on the prisoner file in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

In a post on X, Al-Murtadha said the talks concluded with the signing of lists containing the names of prisoners and detainees to be exchanged and released, involving 1,100 Yemeni pro-Sana’a prisoners and 580 members of the other side (Saudi-led coalition backed government).

He added that the agreement also includes seven Saudi prisoners and 20 Sudanese detainees.

According to Al-Murtadha, the implementation process will begin following the completion of procedures by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
