President of Yemen sends condolences to Qatar for death of former Emir

Yemen’s President Mahdi Al-Mashat has sent a message of condolences to Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani following the death of his father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

In the message, Al-Mashat expressed his “deep sorrow” over the passing of the late Qatari leader, describing his life as one dedicated to service and contribution.

Al-Mashat also recalled Qatar’s positive role under Sheikh Hamad’s leadership in mediating efforts to end the unjust war on Yemen’s Saada province by the former regime.

He concluded by extending his sincere condolences to Emir Sheikh Tamim and the Qatari people, and praying that the deceased be granted mercy and that his family be given patience and strength.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir of Qatar, led the country from 1995 until abdicating in favor of his son, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in 2013.

During his rule, Qatar expanded its regional diplomatic role and sponsored mediation efforts in several conflicts, including negotiations to end fighting in Yemen’s Saada province.
