North Korea Criticizes South Korea’s Plans

North Korea criticized its southern neighbor’s plans to develop nuclear-powered submarines on Wednesday, arguing that the program would increase instability on the Korean Peninsula and in the region as a whole.

North Korea’s First Vice Foreign Minister, Jang Kum-chol, stated in a press conference that “South Korea’s goal is to free itself from restrictions on reprocessing spent nuclear fuel and uranium enrichment, and to secure the right to produce nuclear materials, ultimately paving the way for nuclear armament,” according to the Qatar News Agency.
