The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Thursday hailed the expulsion of US forces from Iraq as a historic victory, crediting the Iraqi people, resistance groups and government for forcing an end to two decades of US military presence.
The IRGC said the withdrawal was “not through negotiation, nor as a favor,” but the result of Iraq’s steadfast resistance and national will, adding that the experience of US occupation showed that its presence had failed to bring security and had instead contributed to “insecurity, terrorism, and instability.”
“The US left; not through negotiations, not as a favor, but through the determination of a nation that stood firm, the blood of fighters who gave their lives, and the will of a resistance that was never broken,” the IRGC statement read.

It recalled resistance fighters martyred in the confrontation with US forces, particularly Lt. General Martyr Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis.
“By God’s grace, the revenge for the blood of these dear ones will be completed with the full expulsion of the US from the region.”
The IRGC called on Washington to withdraw from the wider region and leave security management to regional peoples, describing the end of the US military presence in Iraq as “the first step towards its expulsion from all of West Asia.”
It also urged the Iraqi government, people and resistance forces to remain vigilant against what it described as potential US attempts to recreate instability and interfere in Iraq’s affairs.
Earlier on Wednesday, Ali Al-Zaidi, Iraqi prime minister and commander-in-chief of the armed forces, officially announced the conclusion of the US-led international coalition‘s mission in Iraq.
He made the announcement during an official ceremony in Baghdad marking Iraq’s Sovereignty Day and the conclusion of the coalition’s mission, according to a statement from Al-Zaidi’s media office.
