A senior U.N. official in Yemen says the death toll from an airstrike this week by the Saudi-led coalition on a market north of the capital, Sana’a, has nearly doubled, rising to 119.
Meritxell Relano, UNICEF’s deputy representative in Yemen, said on Thursday that there are 22 children among the dead. The airstrike on Tuesday in the town of Mastaba in Hajja province, northwest of Sana’a, also wounded 47 people.
Yemen news agency, SABA, said on Tuesday that 65 people were killed and 55 wounded in the attack, the latest in a series of similar bombings by the coalition that have killed hundreds of civilians.
