Human Rights Ministry strongly condemned the assassination of a staff member of the International Commission of Red Cross (ICRC) in Taiz province.
In a statement obtained by SABA, the ministry expressed its regret for this brutal crime committed early Saturday in Dhabab area of Taiz, southwest of the country, and led the killing of Hanna Lahoud, a Lebanese national, who was in charge of the ICRC’s detention program in Yemen.
The statement called on all parties to apply the principles of international humanitarian law and international human rights law and provide protection to all human rights defenders and workers in the relief and humanitarian fields.
The ministry called for a transparent international investigation into the incident.
