Unknown gunmen on Friday assassinated a leader in the so-called Southern Transition Council (STC), which is funded by the United Arab Emirates occupation forces, in Abyan province, local sources said.
According to the sources, unknown gunmen on a Hilux vehicle opened fire on Ali Awad al-Kazami; a leader in the UAE- backed Southern Transition Council, while he was passing through the highway in Al-Mahfad district.
He was hit by several gunshots in various areas of his body, killing him instantly, one of the sources said.
The gunmen fled the scene and their current whereabouts are unknown, the source added.
Abyan province and other southern provinces under the control of the UAE occupation forces have been witnessing chaos and insecurity amidst the increase in armed terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda and Daesh.
The attack was the latest in a series of assassinations targeting political figures, clerics and security officials in the UAE-occupied southern provinces.
