The UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, stressed the importance of fuel imports entering Hodeidah. He said on Twitter that “imports have not entered and imported fuel to Hodeidah since last January.”

He said in his briefing to the Security Council today, Tuesday, that “the urgent agenda of the United Nations is the three humanitarian imperatives, in addition to the launch of the political process that has been long overdue, and not use the economy as a weapon by the coalition.”

“The ceasefire in all parts of Yemen, the opening of Sana’a airport, and the unimpeded flow of fuel and other goods to Yemen through the port of Hodeidah, are urgent humanitarian necessities. This would reduce the impact of the war on civilians and facilitate their ability to exercise their right of movement and movement,” he added.

Regarding the events and the escalation of tension in the occupied governorate of Aden, the UN envoy said: “The situation is still difficult in Aden, due to power cuts and non-fulfillment of employees’ salaries, ensuring security and stability of the economy.”
