Member of the National Delegation, Abdulmalik Al-Ajri, confirmed, Tuesday, that the National Delegation refused to link the humanitarian issue to any military and political gains.

Al-Ajri said “We want a permanent cessation of war, not just a ceasefire.” He added, “We are in favor of a ceasefire with an agreed plan away from the humanitarian issue, oil derivatives and others.”

He pointed out that international humanitarian law supports us in our position not to accept a compromise of the humanitarian issue for the military or political issue. He emphasized that the reason for the diplomatic interest increase is the attempt by other parties to stop the progress towards Marib.

Al-Ajri clarified that the problem of the current diplomatic interest is that it is focused only on stopping the progress towards Marib and then switching to the issue of a ceasefire without addressing the blockade. He continued by saying, “Some may not want to convert commitments into written agreements, and we demanded that the agreement be signed through the United Nations.”

He pointed out that it cannot be said that we are optimistic about progress, but we are waiting for the other side to accept the separation of the humanitarian and military-political issues.”
