US Senator Richard Blumenthal announced on Tuesday that a bill would be submitted to the Senate, providing for a moratorium on arms sales to Saudi Arabia.
The draft law provides for the suspension of arms and ammunition supplies to Saudi Arabia for one year.

Earlier, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that President Joe Biden believes it is necessary to re-evaluate Washington’s relations with Saudi Arabia against the background of the recent decision of the “OPEC +” group to reduce oil production.

In a related context, the Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Robert Menendez, called for freezing relations with Saudi Arabia due to Saudi Arabia’s relations with Russia over the conflict in Ukraine.

US President Joe Biden had expressed his “disappointment” with the “OPEC +” decision to reduce oil production, and directed the release of additional volumes of oil from the US strategic reserve.
